Music

Chancel Choir

The chancel choir is a non-auditioned adult group who sings as part of Sunday morning worship. Although comprised primarily of adults from diverse musical backgrounds and interests, high school and college age musicians are always welcomed.

The chancel choir's repertoire is drawn from inspired music of the past and present, including traditional historic periods, contemporary praise and gospel music, and multi-cultural traditions. Works from Johannes Brahms and John Rutter to African-American spirituals and folk songs are sung. The chancel choir also performs for special services and programs, including two major presentations a year. Instrumentalists are welcomed and encouraged to participate with the choir whenever possible.

Weekly rehearsals are held Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. On Sunday mornings, the chancel choir meets on the lower level of the church facility in room 206 one-half hour prior to the service in preparation for worship. The choir season is September through May. The choir is directed by Debi Rogers, 663-2514.

Westminster Chimes Bell Choir

Westminster Chimes is the church's adult handbell choir. Westminster Chimes participates in services on a monthly basis from September through May. They use a 5-octave set of handbells and a 3-octave set of handchimes.

Handbells have been a part of this congregation's worship since 1973, and the choir is a member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. The choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the handbell rehearsal room. The choir is directed by Lael Hoerauf, 223-0964.
